The Space Cowboy

Melt Mars began with a moment of unexpected inspiration. As a child, after waking from a bad dream, Brian found himself watching La Bamba while his mother cooked him a meal to make him feel better, a simple memory that would spark a lifelong connection to music. Soon after, his mother introduced him to the sounds of Ritchie Valens and other timeless artists, including the big band and jazz sounds that would shape his early appreciation for melody, rhythm, and storytelling.

During his early teenage years, Brian began playing in small bands with friends and performing at local shows. Those experiences eventually led him to larger stages, including venues like House of Blues, where he discovered the energy and connection that comes from performing for a live audience. It was there that he realized he wanted to move beyond simply playing in other people’s bands and begin creating something entirely his own.

Wanting the freedom to explore different sounds without being confined to a single genre, Brian created Melt Mars a project built around experimentation. The name itself came from a playful after party tradition, where he and friends would invent fake rap names and create humorous freestyle battles. What started as a joke name eventually became the identity for a project that would grow into something much more meaningful.

Melt Mars represents the journey from childhood memories and early musical influences to a sound that blends past and present.
